![]() ![]() go to control panel > network connections > make sure your wireless LAN connection exists and is enabled.in the same screen as above, click the "lan settings" button and make sure all boxes on that page are un-checked.go to control panel > internet options > connections tab > and remove all entries from the "dial-up and virtual private network settings" box.uninstall any third party connection software.Without seeing it for myself (and assuming you don't need any of the third party software I speak of), i'd recommend trying: TBH, when I have seen this problem with XP before, it's usually because there has been some third party internet connection software (like something from Linksys/Netgear/your brand of router) installed on the computer in question which never seems to work as well as the XP equivalent, if at all. Is this connection ever used or needed? If not, I'd get rid as it is more than likely not helping matters. It keeps trying to connect using dial up using my nokia phone - tried that and it won't connect through that either.
